Engineering the Future of Sportswear

The Sneaker Lab — our most popular program globally and originally developed with insight from over 100 Nike innovators — puts students behind the same professional AI and VR design tools trusted by Fortune 500 companies and world-class design firms. From material science to marketing strategy, students engineer sustainable sportswear concepts, develop pricing models and marketing plans, and compete in a live pitch competition while exploring high-demand careers in design, engineering, and creative tech.

Build the Tech That Keeps Pros in the Game

What if you could invent the technology that keeps athletes healthy and performing at their best? In this immersive sports medicine and technology camp, students use Design Thinking to research real athletic injuries and invent original wearable tech solutions designed to prevent them. From biomechanics to product design, students work like real sports medicine professionals and technology innovators — developing concepts, building business cases, and pitching their inventions to an industry panel.

Think Like a Lawyer. Build Like a CEO.

Can you close the deal? Students step into the high-stakes world of sports law and entrepreneurship — facing off as Player Agents vs. Team Owners in our signature mock contract negotiation, "Sign the Star!" guided by real Attorney Coaches. Week Two pivots to entrepreneurship, where students build a full business venture for their assigned mock athlete — developing brand strategy, revenue models, and a pitch worthy of a real boardroom. Two weeks. Two power skills. One unforgettable experience.

Pitch Competition

At NBA All-Star Weekend 2026 in Los Angeles, Beyond the Ball hosted the Game Changers Innovation Lab pitch competition — and 26 high school students proved that the next big ideas in sports aren’t coming from boardrooms. They’re coming from the bleachers.

Over three weeks, five teams from across LA used Design Thinking to identify real problems facing their generation and build tech solutions to solve them. Their final presentations — delivered live at Boyle Heights Technology YouthSource Center in front of judges from Comcast NBCUniversal, the Dallas Mavericks, and the sports industry — were sharp, original, and deeply personal.

First place went to Highlight+, an AI-powered fan rewards and athlete visibility platform created by Izzy, Eleanor, Malik, and J’huahnn. Every team walked away with a professional network, a portfolio piece, and a new vision of their future in sports.

What Your Generation Has to Say

Presented by Beyond the Ball

Beyond the Ball, Inc. exposes youth to the math, science and innovative careers beyond the game.

Beyond the Ball, Inc. was born on a basketball court — and built at a kitchen table. Founded in 2020 by Dallas entrepreneur, educator, and sports mom Erica Molett alongside her two sons, what began as a pandemic-era idea to keep young athletes engaged became something far bigger than anyone anticipated. Today, Beyond the Ball is a globally recognized sports-based youth development nonprofit that has served 6,000+ young people across 17+ cities in the U.S., Paris, and Scotland — with programs co-designed alongside Nike, Microsoft Xbox, the NBA Foundation, Sony, Gravity Sketch, Adidas, Methodist Health, and Comcast NBCUniversal.

Our signature Passion-Based Learning framework throws out the traditional classroom playbook and replaces it with something that actually works — immersive, real-world innovation projects co-designed with industry professionals across sports, technology, healthcare, industrial design, and entrepreneurship. Students don’t just learn about careers. They build things. They pitch things. They earn credentials. And they leave with a clearer, more confident vision of who they are and where they are going.

Erica’s work in education, workforce development, and economic development has been recognized by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Labor, HUD, the Texas State Senate, and the White House. Our alumni are now enrolled at Rice University, the University of Houston, Texas Southern University, Howard University, and Prairie View A&M — and have competed on stages like AfroTech and NBA All-Star Weekend. We are proud to bring that same standard of excellence to Dallas College Cedar Valley this summer through Game Changers Innovation Lab.

Sports done right is a competitive advantage in life. So is starting early.
